The beginning
Richard Geres Personal Training is founded, with individual coaching and measurable results at the centre of the service.
Serving Malta since 2005
More than a personal training club. A professional coaching environment built around the individual—and led by a founder who practises what he teaches.
Our club
Richard Geres Personal Training was founded in 2005 to provide something very different from the conventional gym experience.
The idea was simple: clients should receive professional guidance, individual attention and a programme designed around their own body, health, goals and life—not be left to navigate a crowded gym alone.
Since then, our team has coached thousands of clients. Every year of experience has helped us refine a consistent system for assessment, programme design, one-to-one coaching and progress review. The setting is private, the service is personal and the work is always purposeful.
Professional coaching, delivered personally.
Our story
Richard Geres Personal Training is founded, with individual coaching and measurable results at the centre of the service.
As demand grows, Richard builds a team and develops a shared methodology so every client receives the same professional standard of care.
A custom-developed system gives coaches and clients direct access to workout and assessment data, making progress visible and programming more responsive.
Our dedicated facility at Corinthia Hotel St George’s Bay remains reserved for personal training clients—away from crowds, waiting and guesswork.
Our team
Richard’s priority in building the team was not simply to recruit individual trainers. It was to create a shared professional culture—with a coherent training philosophy and methodology followed by every coach.
Every staff member learns and implements the club’s in-house training programme and staff manual. This gives the team a common framework for assessment, programme design, exercise selection, coaching and progress review.
Richard developed a dedicated software application that allows coaches to record each client’s assessments, health considerations, goals and workouts in one consistent system.
If a client’s usual coach is away or unwell, a substitute trainer can understand the client’s programme and relevant health information before stepping in. The client receives informed, consistent coaching without having to start again.
Private Training Studio
Located at the Corinthia Hotel St George’s Bay, our studio provides a private, quiet setting dedicated exclusively to one-to-one coaching and personal assessment away from crowded gym floors.

Richard Geres · Founder
Now in his 60s, Richard remains in exceptional physical condition after a lifetime of natural strength training. His example gives the club’s healthy-ageing message unusual authenticity.
It also gives him a deeper appreciation of what changes with age. Starting—or restarting—exercise later in life can involve reduced mobility, lower cardiovascular fitness, postural limitations, old injuries, joint discomfort and uncertainty about what the body can safely do.
Richard understands that the answer is not to train every older client like a younger athlete. It is to respect the starting point, select the right exercises, progress intelligently and build the strength, fitness and confidence that make life easier.
“Our job isn’t just to get you fit. It’s to help you remain capable.”
The 60th-birthday project
Ahead of his 60th birthday, Richard set himself a demanding 14-week goal: become exceptionally lean while preserving the muscle built over decades of consistent, drug-free training.
His programme combined five to six weekly strength sessions with additional cardiovascular work during the final seven weeks. Nutrition was tightly controlled, with high protein intake and careful management of carbohydrates, alcohol and sweet foods. The scale changed by only 2.5kg; the more meaningful result was the quality of the change—maximising fat loss while protecting muscle.
This was an advanced personal challenge, not a standard prescription or a typical promise. Its value is the principle behind it: clear goals, appropriate training, consistent nutrition and patient execution can still produce remarkable change later in life.
